Sweet Southern BBQ Ribs


This recipe will ruin you for ever ordering ribs in a restaurant again.  They’re fall-off-the-bone tender.  With a sauce that’s second to none, this is sure to be a favorite recipe.

Hint:  Boiling the ribs prior to grilling or roasting is the secret to getting tender ribs 100% of the time.

  1. 4 lbs pork spareribs, cut into serving size pieces
  2. 1 medium onion
  3. 2 tsp salt
  4. 1/4 tsp pepper
  1. 1/2 cup cider vinegar
  2. 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  3. 1/2 cup ketchup
  4. 1/4 cup chili sauce
  5. 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  6. 2 Tbsp chopped onion
  7. 1 Tbsp lemon juice
  8. 1/2 tsp dry mustard
  9. 1 garlic clove, minced
  10. Dash cayenne pepper
  1. 1. In a large kettle or Dutch oven, place the ribs and onion, sprinkle with salt and pepper. Add enough water to cover the ribs; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours or unit tender; drain.
  2. 2. Combine all sauce ingredients in a saucepan. Simmer, uncovered, for one hour or until slightly thickened, stirring occasionally.
  3. 3. Arrange ribs on a grill or if roasting, on a rack in a boiler pan. Brush with sauce. Grill or broil 5″ from heat for 5 minutes on each side, brushing frequently with sauce.
