I have been using this recipe since before my kids were born, and from the time they could reach the counter to make these cookies themselves, they have been using it too. We occasionally try new cookie recipes, but always end up coming back to this one. When my kids left for college and called to ask, "Could I have that recipe?" I had to post it.

Preheat oven to 375°.

Cream butter. Add white and brown sugar and mix until blended.

Add eggs and vanilla and mix.

In a separate bowl, mix the flour, oatmeal, salt, baking powder and baking soda.

Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture and blend.

Add the chocolate chips and mix and M & M's

Place balls of cookie dough onto a cookie sheet with a spoon or an ice cream scoop. Top with a few M & M's on each cookie.

Bake for 12 Minutes or until done.
