Charcoal Grilled Chicken Breasts

One summer I was visiting my sister in Illinois, and she made this wonderful grilled chicken.  When I asked, “Could I have that recipe?” I was surprised and annoyed that she said, “No, it’s a secret recipe.”  After we finished cleaning up she informed me that it was my own recipe that I had given to her years ago, and we all had a good laugh over it.

Ingredients
  1. 6 small or 3 large chicken breasts, halved
  2. 3 medium cloves garlic, chopped
  3. 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  4. 1/2 cup brown sugar
  5. 3 Tablespoons grainy mustard
  6. 1/4 cup cider vinegar
  7. juice of 1 lime
  8. juice of 1/2 large lemon
  9. 6 Tablespoons olive oil
  10. Black pepper to taste
Instructions
  1. Combine all marinade ingredients. Add chicken. Marinate in the refrigerator for 2 to 24 hours. Grill on medium high 2 minutes. Turn chicken over and grill on medium high 2 minutes. Reduce heat to medium low. Cook until juices run clear.
